We camping and canoeing early that month, not sure if we had come back yet or not.

If we had then running through wheat and canola fields inventing things to do with childhood abandon.

I must have been visiting my parents for part of the day because I can only remember seeing part of it while they were channel-flicking. I would only have been about 17 years old.

Just say the bloke was found dead at the bottom of your pool filled with class A drugs and with internal anal injuries when you got there, like Michael Barrymore did...

I was praying that my dad would make it through the night after a triple heart bypass. We were told by the hospital to return home and hope for the best and I don't mind admiting that I made a large donation to Live Aid when we sat watching in the evening not knowing what the morning would bring. Incredibly he lived for another 19 years and his dodgy heart didn't get him in the end. Strange memory to have of that day but a personal one for me.

Re: Can you account for your whereabouts on the 13th July 1985?
On the piss all day with mates, drank copious amounts. Ended up in a chinese restaurant so full of booze and food I couldn't finish my meal.

Remember looking up at the tv in the restaurant feeling completely underwhelmed by yet another running of "who gonna drive you home...." I never liked Geldof and liked him even less that day.

By that point I couldn't give a fuck who was starving........ I wasn't

There I said it.

When the Wembley gig started I was driving past on the North Circular to stay with my sister in Walthamstow for the weekend. I'd only passed my driving test the day before, so a 300 mile round trip, including the pre-M25 North Circular sticks in my mind.

Sitting around my pool in Detroit, occasionally popping in to watch the gig which although started with Madonna, didn't really get going until the evening. Those were the days when I believed in the cause. Those days are long gone.
